runDisney’s Virtual Running Shorts Series Is Back!

February 10, 2017

Last year runDisney introduced it’s Virtual Running Shorts Series. This series was very popular with Main Streeters who couldn’t make it to runDisney events in Florida or California or who just wanted a reason to get moving. Today we are happy to share with you that the 2017 series has been confirmed and it will run from June 1 through August 31, Registration for this year’s series will open on April 11!  runDisney has confirmed that this year’s charity will be the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, which ties in well with this year’s medal theme, Pluto! (We can’t wait for runDisney to release the images of this summer’s medal!)

With this virtual 5k series you decide how many of the virtual 5ks you want to sign up for and where and when you want to walk, run, skip or even dance them.  Once you have completed your 5k you can share your completion information on social media using the hashtag #runDisneyShorts. You will not have to show proof of completion to runDisney to get your medals, but they do encourage you to share your achievement with your friends and family on social media.

Once the completion date for the series you signed up for has passed, runDisney will mail you your medal. You can print your bib off their Facebook event once it is set up. If you decide to sign up for all 3 virtual 5ks you will get a bonus challenge medal. Please note that last year those who signed up for the challenged received all of their medals at one time once the series was finished. For more information on last year’s challenge check out our Racing Disney writer Addie’s article here!

runDisney didn’t release pricing for this year’s challenge, but last year’s series cost  $39 to enter each virtual race, and the entire series with Challenge medal and cup was $142. Per runDisney’s site “Runners will receive a Disney-themed Finisher’s Medal for each race completed within 30 days of their final race.”
