Facts about Disney’s VoluntEARS:
- Disney’s VoluntEARS originally started in 1983 in Disneyland as the Disneyland Community Action Team a group dedicated to helping nonprofit groups in Orange County California.
- In 1992 Disney decided to expand on this project and the Disney VoluntEARS project was born. The focus of the Disney VoluntEARS is to help communities around the world where Disney business units exist.
- In 2014 Disney state that the Disney VoluntEARS program had more and 100,000 hours of CM volunteer time at more than 170 events. Dozens of organizations received “more than $350,000 through the employee-managed Disney VoluntEARS Community Fund grants.”
- Per Disney the “EARS to You, a program that allows cast members to turn their hours of volunteer service into a financial contribution to a nonprofit organization of their choice, granted more than $220,000 to local nonprofits.”
