Rainbow Caverns Mine Train opened in 1956 and was part of the Living Desert. Guests would ride miniature though scenes of desert. While riding they would see cacti, the Balancing Rock and the Rainbow Caverns. This ride was replaced by the Mine Train Through Nature’s Wonderland. The new ride was designed by Marc Davis, and incorporated the Living Desert and Rainbow Caverns in the design. Nature’s Wonderland was closed so that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad could be built.
