Created by animator Alex Hirsch, Gravity Falls follows the adventures of twins Dipper and Mabel while they spend the summer in Gravity Falls. Gravity Falls is a town full of paranormal and supernatural creatures and other strange events. Dipper uses a journal he has found (one of three), written by an unknown author, to try and unravel these mysteries. Several big name stars like Nathan Fillion ( Preston Northwest) Lance Bass (several of the Sev’ral Timez bandmembers), Coolio (his own wax figure), Neil deGrasse Tyson (Waddles’ talking machine), and Weird Al Yankovic (upcoming) have appeared as guest voices on Gravity Falls. One of the unique twists to this cartoon is that at the end of every episode, there is a ciphered code or text in one of many substitution ciphers.
The first season premiered on 6/15/12 on the Disney Channel, but the second season wasn’t confirmed until 5/31/14, when Disney announced the series would move to Disney XD. The second half of the second season will start airing on Disney XD on 7/13/15.
