Disney Lorcana Attack of the Vine brings Monsters, Inc., Up, and Turning Red to the Trading Card Game. When Disney Lorcana first arrived in August 2023, it didn’t just enter the trading card game world… it exploded into it.

What started with The First Chapter has grown into something truly remarkable. Set after set, Ravensburger has kept players and collectors coming back — not just with beautiful card art and fun gameplay, but with an ongoing storyline that has been building toward something big. And now, with Attack of the Vine!, that storyline reaches its climax.
We first told you about Attack of the Vine! back in June when Ravensburger dropped the press release, and the excitement has only grown since then. This is the 13th set in the game and the culmination of a year-long story arc — and it’s bringing a whole new wave of Pixar characters along for the ride.
Prerelease begins July 17, 2026 at local game stores and select Disney Parks and stores, with the full global release set for July 24, 2026.
The Story Behind Attack of the Vine!
If you’ve been following the Lorcana storyline, this is the moment everything has been building toward. The Vine — which has been a growing threat across recent sets — has now soaked up all of the magical ink from the flood Illumineers experienced in earlier chapters, making it an incredibly powerful adversary. It’s going to take teamwork to stop it.
“Adventure awaits in Lorcana as the realm grapples with the implacable threat of the Vine that’s grown completely out of control,” said Nicole Smith, Senior Narrative Designer at Ravensburger. “Now that the Vine has soaked up all of the magical ink from the flood Illumineers experienced in earlier sets, it’s an extremely powerful adversary that will take a lot of teamwork to thwart.”
That theme of teamwork isn’t just story flavor — it’s baked directly into the gameplay mechanics of this set.
New Pixar Characters
Just like Wilds Unknown introduced us to Toy Story, The Incredibles, and Brave characters, Attack of the Vine! is bringing in another wave of beloved Pixar properties. This set features glimmers from:
- Monsters, Inc. — Sulley, Mike, Boo, and the gang are finally here
- Up — Carl, Russell, Dug, and more make their Lorcana debut
- Turning Red — Meilin Lee and the world of Turning Red join the Illumineers

As a Pixar fan, this is exciting stuff. Each of these films has such a distinct personality, and seeing how Ravensburger translates them into card art and abilities is always one of the best parts of a new set release.
New Gameplay Mechanics
Attack of the Vine! introduces some of the most significant gameplay changes we’ve seen yet, and players are going to want to pay attention to these.
Team Classification is the big one. The set introduces new character classifications — including Team, Boss, Red Panda, and Vineling — and Team is a game-changer. It allows any character who shares a name with one of the characters in a team to act as the shift base, opening up a lot of new strategic options across both Core Constructed and Infinity formats.
Beyond that, two exciting new Shift variations debut in this set:
- Duo Shift and Combo Shift — shift a card on top of two cards rather than one for big rewards
- Temporary Shift — shift a card for just one turn, then return only the shifted card to your hand while the shift base stays in play
These new mechanics add real depth and flexibility, and experienced players are going to have a lot of fun figuring out how to build around them.
The Iconic Cards
Every set has its crown jewels, and Attack of the Vine! delivers two Iconic cards that are going to be the most sought-after pulls in the set. The art style for this set is inspired by cinematic summer blockbuster artwork, and the Iconic cards take it even further with additional foil treatments and movie-poster-esque art.
The two Iconics are:
- Lilo & Stitch – Fun-Loving Friends
- Belle & Beast – Certain as the Sun
Both perfectly capture that theme of teamwork, and both are going to be beautiful cards to pull and display.

Core Format Rotation
This is important for competitive players. With the prerelease of Attack of the Vine! on July 17, the Core Constructed format rotates. Starting July 17, only cards from Fabled, Whispers in the Well, Winterspell, Wilds Unknown, and Attack of the Vine! will be legal in Core Constructed play.
If you play in Disney Lorcana Challenge events or other official competitive events, this is the time to update your decks accordingly. And if you’ve been holding onto cards from earlier sets, don’t worry — Infinity Constructed still lets you use (almost) everything.
