Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure is about to get a lot bigger, and Disney just introduced us to the man in charge of making sure the two new rides actually work before guests ever step foot in line.
As we’ve reported, the expansion will bring two new attractions to the land: Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab. Both are currently under construction, and Disney is now assembling the “test & adjust” team that will spend the coming months putting the rides through their paces alongside Walt Disney Imagineering.
Leading that effort is Mark Diwas, a 24-year Disneyland Resort veteran whose resume includes test & adjust work on Finding Nemo’s Submarine Voyage, Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters, and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. For those unfamiliar, test & adjust teams are the cast members who get attractions ride-ready in the weeks and months before opening day — everything from working out queue flow to figuring out the safest, smoothest way to load and unload guests.
What’s different this time around is Mark’s role. Rather than joining an already-formed team, he’s the one building it. Mark came aboard the Avengers Campus expansion in 2024 as a program development project manager, spending the past two years representing Disneyland Resort operations during the design and construction process. Now part of his job is recruiting and training the cast members who’ll make up the new test & adjust squad for Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab.
The newly chosen team members got the news in a fun way — they were surprised during a special Avengers-themed session at Animation Academy, kicking off their own behind-the-scenes journey with the resort.
From here, Mark and the team will spend the coming months on-site with Imagineering, working through both attractions piece by piece as construction continues. No opening date has been announced yet for either ride, but with test & adjust teams now in place, it’s a solid sign that both attractions are moving into a more hands-on phase of development.
