Disney has quietly rolled out a long-requested update to both the Walt Disney World and Disneyland mobile apps, and it is one that savvy park-goers have been waiting on for years. You can now save Disney Gift Cards directly to your MyDisney Wallet as a stored payment method, making checkout faster and smoother than ever before.
Until now, guests had no way to store gift cards in the app. Every single purchase required manually entering the card number, which was a real pain when trying to quickly place a mobile food order or grab Lightning Lane reservations. That friction is now gone. To get set up, head to the MyDisney Wallet section of the app, select “Add Payment Method,” choose “Disney Gift Card,” and enter your 16-digit card number and EAN, along with an optional nickname for the card. There is even a barcode feature that lets you pull up the card right in the app to pay at a physical register, whether that is at a Disney theme park or a Disney Store location.
Here is a bonus for anyone who already manages their gift cards through DisneyGiftCards.com: if you use the same email address for your Disney account, your existing gift cards should automatically appear in the app without any extra steps. The update works for most purchases including park tickets and mobile food orders. Lightning Lane purchases are not yet supported, but hopefully that is next! And beyond Walt Disney World and Disneyland, Disney Gift Cards are accepted at Disney Cruise Line, Disney Store, Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu, making them one of the most versatile ways to stretch your Disney budget.
This is genuinely one of the most practical app updates Disney has made in a while, and it arrives at a great time with several other app improvements rolling out too.
