Disney Lorcana fans have plenty to celebrate this summer as Ravensburger has officially unveiled Attack of the Vine!, the next expansion for the Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game. Serving as the exciting conclusion to a year-long storyline, the new set introduces beloved Pixar characters, powerful new gameplay mechanics, stunning collectible cards, and a glimpse at what’s coming next for Illumineers.
Whether you’re a competitive player, collector, or Disney fan, Attack of the Vine! looks to be one of the biggest Disney Lorcana releases yet.
Danger Blooms in Attack of the Vine!
Ravensburger has announced that Attack of the Vine! will prerelease beginning July 17, 2026, at local game stores, select Disney Parks, and select Disney retail locations. The set will then receive its wide release on July 24, 2026, with preorders already available through online retailers.
The newest expansion brings Illumineers face-to-face with the powerful magical Vine that has been growing throughout the past year of Disney Lorcana’s ongoing story.
According to Nicole Smith, Senior Narrative Designer at Ravensburger, the Vine has absorbed the magical ink released during previous events, making it the greatest threat the realm has faced so far. Defeating it will require teamwork unlike anything players have seen before.
New Pixar Glimmers Join the Adventure
Attack of the Vine! introduces new glimmers inspired by several beloved Pixar films, including:
- Monsters, Inc.
- Up
- Turning Red
These fan-favorite characters join the ever-growing Disney Lorcana universe while helping bring the climactic story to life through new cards and abilities.
Incredible New Enchanted and Iconic Cards
As with previous Disney Lorcana releases, collectors will have plenty to chase.
The artwork for Attack of the Vine! draws inspiration from classic summer blockbuster movie posters, giving many cards an epic cinematic feel.
The rarest cards in the set—the coveted Iconic cards feature additional foil treatments and premium artwork.
The two featured Iconic cards are:
- Lilo & Stitch – Fun-Loving Friends
- Belle & Beast – Certain as the Sun
These beautifully illustrated cards celebrate the set’s central theme of friendship and teamwork.
New Team Mechanic Changes Gameplay
One of the biggest gameplay additions arriving in Attack of the Vine! is the brand-new Team classification.
According to Game Design Director and co-creator Steve Warner, the mechanic introduces new ways to use Shift by allowing characters that share a name with a member of a Team card to become valid Shift targets.
The new mechanic creates additional deck-building opportunities for both:
- Core Constructed
- Infinity Constructed
Competitive players should find the new system opens the door for creative strategies across multiple formats.
Core Constructed Rotation Begins July 17
With the prerelease of Attack of the Vine!, Disney Lorcana’s competitive Core Constructed format officially rotates.
Beginning July 17, only cards from the following sets will remain legal:
- Fabled
- Whispers in the Well
- Winterspell
- Wilds Unknown
- Attack of the Vine!
Players who enjoy Infinity Constructed won’t have to worry, however. Nearly every Disney Lorcana card released to date will remain legal in that format.
A Look Ahead at the Future of Disney Lorcana
Ravensburger also shared exciting details about the game’s upcoming roadmap.
Hyperia City — October 2026
Launching with prereleases beginning October 16, Hyperia City introduces players to a vibrant metropolis filled with music, magic, and the first-ever glimmers from Pixar’s Coco.
The full release follows on October 23, and will also mark the return of Prerelease Boxes.
Into the Inkdark — Q1 2027
Illumineers will journey into darker territory with Into the Inkdark, a villain-focused expansion centered around Disney’s most notorious antagonists.
Galactic Adventure — Q2 2027
Following that, Disney Lorcana heads into outer space with an all-new cosmic adventure featuring story stars from across the Disney universe.
Attack of the Vine! officially launches everywhere on July 24, 2026, following prerelease events beginning July 17.
