toy Story 5 Pulls in $175 Million in Previews Best Opening Night Yet for the FranchiseHere’s some exciting news for Disney/Pixar! Toy Story 5 just pulled in $17.5 million in previews, the biggest preview number in the franchise’s history, and the second best for any Pixar movie or animated film, period. It’s also the best 2026 has seen so far! Audiences are loving it too, with a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, just a pinch behind Toy Story 4 and Inside Out 2’s 94%.

Meet the New and Returning Characters of Disney and Pixars Toy Story 5

Here’s how it stacks up against the all time animated preview leaderboard:

Incredibles 2 — $18.5M previews, $182.6M opening weekend
Toy Story 5 — $17.5M previews
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse — $17.4M previews, $120.7M opening
Moana 2 — $13.8M Tuesday previews, $140M opening
Inside Out 2 — $13M previews, $154.2M opening

It’s a tight race at the top! Toy Story 5 is sitting less than a million dollars off the all time record, and well ahead of the previous Toy Story high water mark. If the multiplier from previews to opening weekend holds anywhere close to what we saw with Incredibles 2 or Across the Spider-Verse (both landed somewhere in the 8-10x range), Toy Story 5 could be looking at a real shot at the biggest animated opening of the year, and possibly one of the bigger Pixar openings of all time. That’s crazy, and amazing news for Pixar for sure!

I haven’t seen Toy Story 5 yet, but the word on the street so far is that it is a tear jerker and a wonderful story overall! Are you going to the movies this weekend?
