Matterhorn Bobsleds Reopening Date Announced Following Brief Disneyland Refurbishment. Guests planning a summer visit to Disneyland Resort will be happy to hear that one of the park’s most iconic attractions won’t be closed for long. Disneyland officials have now revealed a reopening date for the legendary Matterhorn Bobsleds after the attraction temporarily closes later this month for routine refurbishment.
Matterhorn Bobsleds Returning Quickly After Scheduled Closure

The Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland Park are scheduled to close for refurbishment beginning July 20, with July 19 serving as the final day guests can experience the classic roller coaster before work begins.
When the closure was first announced, Disney had not provided a reopening date. That has now changed, as the attraction is currently scheduled to welcome guests back on July 24, making this one of the shortest refurbishment periods the attraction has seen in recent years.
The quick turnaround suggests that Disney will likely be performing routine maintenance and operational updates rather than any major refurbishment work. These shorter closures help ensure attractions continue operating safely and efficiently while minimizing downtime for guests.
A Regular Maintenance Pattern

This latest closure continues a trend that Disneyland has established with the Matterhorn Bobsleds over the past several years. Since 2022, the attraction has undergone annual refurbishments of varying lengths.
Considering the attraction first opened in 1959 and remains one of Disneyland‘s most beloved original thrill rides, regular maintenance is essential to preserving both the guest experience and the attraction’s long-term operation.
Other Disneyland Attractions Currently Closed
The Matterhorn isn’t the only attraction currently on Disneyland’s refurbishment schedule.
At Disneyland Park, Pirates of the Caribbean remains closed following its May 4 refurbishment start date. Disney has not yet announced an official reopening date for the attraction.

Additional closures are also scheduled for July. Both King Arthur Carrousel and Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition are expected to close beginning July 6. While the Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition does not currently have a reopening date listed, the Disneyland calendar indicates that King Arthur Carrousel is expected to reopen on July 17.
Over at Disney California Adventure, guests will also find Silly Symphony Swings and Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind temporarily unavailable as both attractions continue refurbishment work with reopening dates yet to be announced.
While attraction refurbishments can be disappointing for guests hoping to experience their favorite rides, they play a vital role in keeping Disneyland attractions operating safely and smoothly. Fortunately, Matterhorn fans won’t have to wait long, as the beloved mountain is expected to be back in action just four days after its temporary closure. If you’re planning a Disneyland vacation this summer, be sure to check the latest refurbishment schedules before your visit so there are no surprises once you arrive.
