Disneyland Hosts LA Fleet Week Celebration for U.S. Navy and Marines. Disneyland Resort recently welcomed more than 100 members of the United States Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard for a patriotic celebration unlike any other during Los Angeles Fleet Week. As part of the ongoing “Disney Celebrates America” events leading up to the nation’s 250th anniversary, the special day honored both the 250th anniversaries of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps while continuing Disney’s long-standing tradition of supporting America’s armed forces. From emotional ceremonies on Main Street, U.S.A. to unforgettable Disney experiences throughout the park, the celebration blended military pride with Disney magic in a truly memorable way.

Disneyland Resort hosted a special day of celebration for Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen in honor of Los Angeles Fleet Week and the upcoming 250th anniversaries of the United States Navy and Marine Corps. The event was part of the nationwide “Disney Celebrates America” initiative leading up to America’s 250th anniversary.
Disney has supported members of the U.S. Armed Forces for more than a century, and this celebration continued that tradition in a meaningful way. Each year ahead of Memorial Day weekend, LA Fleet Week recognizes and honors the men and women serving in the nation’s sea services, and Disneyland once again helped create a magical experience for those who serve.

One of the most emotional moments of the day took place during a special Flag Retreat ceremony on Main Street, U.S.A. Guests lined the streets applauding as Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen marched through the park alongside one of the largest U.S. Navy bands ever to perform at Disneyland. The patriotic ceremony in Town Square featured a powerful performance from the Navy Band Southwest and concluded with an impressive flyover from U.S. Navy F/A-18E Super Hornets from the “Mighty Shrikes” of Strike Fighter Squadron 94 based out of Naval Air Station Lemoore. The rare flyover above Disneyland created a breathtaking tribute to generations of military service.

Flag retreat ceremonies have long been a tradition at Disney Parks dating back to Disneyland’s opening more than 70 years ago. The tradition was inspired by Walt and Roy O. Disney, both of whom proudly served their country during World War I. Over the decades, Disney Parks have continued honoring military members, veterans, and their families through ceremonies, celebrations, and special events.
Throughout their visit, service members enjoyed some of Disneyland’s classic attractions including Jungle Cruise and the Mark Twain Riverboat. The magical day concluded with the dazzling Paint the Night parade followed by the spectacular Wondrous Journeys nighttime show.

The visiting military members also had the opportunity to meet Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle as the iconic Disney duo debuted brand-new patriotic outfits created for America’s upcoming 250th anniversary celebration. Featuring vibrant red, white, and blue details, the costumes celebrate the country’s enduring story while encouraging guests to reflect on America’s past, present, and future.

During the event, Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, presented military leaders with an American flag that had been flown over Disneyland Resort as a symbol of appreciation and gratitude for generations of service and sacrifice.

Rear Admiral Robert Nowakowski expressed appreciation for the celebration, noting that the event highlighted Disney’s continued commitment to honoring those who serve while recognizing the important role Sailors and Marines have played throughout America’s history.
From the emotional Flag Retreat ceremony to unforgettable moments throughout Disneyland Park, this year’s LA Fleet Week celebration showcased Disney’s continued dedication to honoring America’s military members and their families. As Disney prepares for the nation’s 250th anniversary, events like these serve as a powerful reminder of the connection between patriotism, tradition, and the magic that Disney creates for guests from around the world.
