A brand new animated fantasy adventure is heading to Disney+, Hulu, and Disney XD this summer, and it looks like it could become a favorite among animation and anime fans alike. Disney has officially released the first trailer for Dragon Striker, an action packed fantasy sports series that blends magic, dragons, and intense competition into one visually stunning new world. Along with the trailer, Disney also announced the show’s official premiere date and shared new details about the cast, music, and story behind the highly anticipated series.
Disney has officially revealed the first trailer for its upcoming animated fantasy series Dragon Striker, giving fans a look at the action packed world where sports and magic collide.
The new series premieres June 9 on Disney XD with all 11 episodes airing during a special marathon beginning at 5 p.m. Eastern and Pacific time. The full season will then stream the following day on Disney+ and Hulu.
Ahead of the premiere, Disney will also release a series of shorts beginning May 13 that introduce viewers to the world and characters of the series. The shorts will be available on Disney+, Disney XD, and the Disney Channel Animation YouTube page.
Dragon Striker follows a farm boy named Key who discovers he has extraordinary abilities and may actually be the legendary Dragon Striker. He arrives at Kal Asterock, a prestigious school for students with powerful magical talents, where he joins goalkeeper Ssyelle and a newly formed underdog team determined to challenge the school’s reigning champions.
As the story unfolds, Key struggles to control the dragon power inside him while Ssyelle fights to keep her team united. Together, they uncover dark secrets connected to the past and an ancient evil that threatens their world.

The series stars Akshay Kumar as Key, Rebecca LaChance as Ssyelle, Yeukayi Ushe as Milo, Waylon Jacobs as Odward, and Evanna Lynch as Ameline.
Music also appears to play a major role in bringing the series to life. Award winning composer Kevin Penkin created the score, which was recorded in Japan with a full 80 piece orchestra. The show’s theme song, “Power of the Dragon,” was written and produced by Cash Callaway and performed by Sarah West. The ending credits song, “The Very End,” was written and performed by Kieran Rhodes.
The series comes from La Chouette Compagnie in association with Disney Television Animation. The creative team includes co creators and executive producers Sylvain Dos Santos and Charles Lefebvre, along with head writer Paul McKeown.
With its anime inspired visuals, fantasy storytelling, and emotional underdog journey, Dragon Striker already looks like one of Disney’s most ambitious animated projects in recent years. Between the impressive orchestral soundtrack, magical world building, and fast paced action, this new series could quickly find a passionate fanbase when it officially premieres this June on Disney XD, Disney+, and Hulu.
