Live Action “Tangled,” Scarlett Johansson eyed for Mother Gothel. A few months back, it was announced that the live action version of the movie Tangled was put on hold. After a miss with the live action Snow White, it was understandable why Tangled was put on pause. Now, we are hearing talks that the movie will happen, with Scarlett Johansson eyed to play a key role!
According to Deadline, Michael Gracey, the director of The Greatest Showman, is attached to direct the remake of Disney’s 2010 animated film. Though casting has yet to be confirmed, Scarlett Johansson, 40, is in talks to star as Mother Gothel. She’s Rapunzel’s evil “mother” voiced by Donna Murphy in the original, just as a refresher. Tangled was released in 2010, starring Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi as the main characters, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider aka Eugene Fitzherbert! There are plenty of supporting characters that round up the cast, it’s my favorite Disney film! The musical’s “I See the Light” earned an Oscar Nomination for Best Original Song. Sigh, don’t we all love that song? It makes me cry!
All this being said, I hope that Disney does a great job with this film and sticks to what the fans want; the original story! Other live actions have gotten a lot of push back from Disney fans, which I do understand. We don’t know too much about this version of Tangled yet, but you can be sure that I’ll update you when I find out more!
