The second Simpsons movie is officially on the way, sliding into a release date Disney had originally saved for a Marvel movie. The first film, released in July 2007, was a massive hit—kicking off with $74 million, racking up $183 million in the U.S., and crossing $536 million worldwide. Directed by David Silverman, it proved that even while dominating TV, the Simpsons could still crush it at the movies. No word yet on what the new adventure will bring, but we’ll be watching and waiting for more details.
The Simpsons are voiced by Dan Castellaneta (Homer), Yeardly Smith (Lisa), Julie Kavner (Marge) and Nancy Cartwright (Bart) as well as Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer in multiple roles.
