Tucked away on Discovery Island inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park is one of the most immersive and memorable dining experiences in all of Walt Disney World. Tiffins Restaurant is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and after finally experiencing it for myself, I completely understand why so many Disney fans call it their favorite restaurant on property.

From the moment you walk through the doors, Tiffins feels less like a restaurant and more like an extension of the park’s storytelling. Inspired by the real-world research trips taken by Walt Disney Imagineers while developing Disney’s Animal Kingdom, every room is filled with artifacts, sketches, and artwork that transport guests across Africa, Asia, and South America. Add in a menu packed with bold, globally inspired flavors, and you have a dining experience that is every bit as adventurous as the park itself.
Pull Up a Chair on Discovery Island
Tiffins Restaurant is conveniently located near the Tree of Life, just before the bridge to Pandora – The World of Avatar. It is easy to find, yet once inside, it feels like a peaceful retreat from the energy of the park.

Right next door is Nomad Lounge, another fan-favorite destination that is also celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Whether you stop in for a handcrafted cocktail or a few shareable small plates, Nomad Lounge is the perfect companion to the Tiffins experience.
A Restaurant Inspired by Global Travel
The moment you enter Tiffins, you are greeted by an enormous and beautifully detailed world map that sets the tone for the journey ahead. Hidden Disney icons are tucked throughout the design, offering a fun challenge for observant guests.

As you explore the dining rooms, you will find that every detail reflects a deep appreciation for the natural world. The restaurant’s decor was inspired by the journals, sketches, and photographs Imagineers created during their travels to Africa, Asia, and South America while researching Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

One particularly meaningful tribute hangs overhead and features Disney Imagineer Joan Hartwig, whose creative vision has played a major role in shaping the legacy of Disney’s Animal Kingdom and its future, including the upcoming Tropical Americas expansion.

Scattered throughout the restaurant are portraits and sculptures of animals supported by the Disney Conservation Fund, which has contributed more than $132 million since 1995 to protect wildlife and promote environmental resilience around the world.

What to Eat at Tiffins Restaurant
While the storytelling and design are remarkable, the true star of Tiffins is the food.
This signature dining experience is ideal for special occasions, adventurous eaters, and anyone who appreciates thoughtfully prepared cuisine. The generous portions make it easy to order several dishes for the table and sample a variety of flavors.
Standout Appetizers
Korean Barbecue Pork Belly Bao Buns

These soft bao buns were the perfect start to the meal. Tender pork belly, pickled cucumber, and green papaya slaw combine for a delicious balance of savory, tangy, and refreshing flavors.
Gobi Manchurian
This vegetarian dish features crispy cauliflower florets tossed in a sweet and tangy sauce. Even non-vegetarians at the table loved it.

Show-Stopping Entrées
Regional Curry Tasting
One of the restaurant’s signature dishes, the Regional Curry Tasting arrives in a traditional tiered tiffin container and is dramatically unveiled at the table. Our version included Thai Green Curry and Indian Red Curry served with jasmine rice, arranged in the shape of a hidden Mickey.
Shrimp & Grits
This South African-inspired dish features Peri Peri shrimp served over mealie pap with roasted corn, goat cheese, and green apple chutney. Every bite was packed with bold flavor and a unique twist on a classic comfort dish.
Oaxacan Pork Duo
Recommended by our server, who has worked at Tiffins since opening day, this entrée combines grilled pork chop and smoked pork shoulder for a hearty and flavorful dish that quickly became a table favorite.
Butter Chicken
Beautifully plated and richly flavored, this dish features tender chicken in a creamy tomato-based sauce and comes with a perfectly crisp samosa.
Save Room for Dessert
Caramel Flan

Smooth, rich, and topped with vanilla Chantilly, this dessert paired wonderfully with a cup of Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company coffee.
African Pot de Crème
Chocolate lovers will adore this decadent dessert infused with Ethiopian coffee and accented by Ras el Hanout pineapple, pistachio, and a chocolate cookie.
New Flavors at Nomad Lounge

No visit to Tiffins is complete without spending time at Nomad Lounge, one of the most relaxing spaces in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The updated menu includes several shareable small plates, including:
- Charcuterie and Cheese Board
- Traveller’s Provisions with globally inspired dips and naan bread
- Wild Mushroom Dumplings
- Crispy Chicken Wings
- Sticky Pork Ribs
- Churros
- Grilled Beef Kefta
For beverages, the Lychee-Ginger Lemonade was an immediate favorite, offering a crisp and refreshing combination of flavors. Cocktail enthusiasts should also try The Pachyderm or The Pollinator, crafted with Bayab African Rose Gin, honey, lemon, lavender bitters, and soda water.
