Review the All New Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin Magic KingdomReview- The All New Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin, Magic Kingdom! Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin in Tomorrowland has been closed since last year, getting a complete makeover. New ride carts and removable blasters were a huge part of the overhaul, as well as upgrading the targets and scenes. The ride doesn’t open for a few weeks, but we got to give it a go twice today, thanks to our Cast Member friend who invited us! We were excited to see what’s new, let’s talk about it!

Review the All New Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin Magic Kingdom

The new ride vehicle is nice, same concept as the old one, but the blasters are actually removable. You will have both red and green blaster colors that you’ll see when you shoot at targets, depending on which side you’re seated on. Once the ride starts going, you will see the neon scenes with targets that light up when hit. Your blaster will vibrate so you know you got some points! The scenes are much brighter, there’s a cute spot new with your favorite green aliens too! Overall, it’s a more polished version of how things were before the refurb. Now let’s get to my opinion…

Review the All New Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin Magic Kingdom

Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin has always been a favorite for my kids. I mean, it’s basically a video game that you’re in! The competitive nature of riders definitely is part of the fun. You want to beat your opponents score plus see how highly you’ll rank at the end. I’m only moderately competitive on this one, but I have to say, the upgrades make the game much harder. Yes, you’re holding your blaster, but you have to hit the target straight in the middle. If you have any twitches in your hand, it will make it even harder to hit the targets. Not to mention the cart moves and jerks as you go along. It’s not bad, but a little more difficult.

The atmosphere of the attraction is very polished and vibrant. Actually all of it is, the queue area is all freshened up as well. We didn’t get to see the Buzz Lightyear animatronic that greets you before you get on the ride, he’s still covered up. From what I could tell, the Buzz at the end of the ride looks the same. If they made enhancements, I honestly couldn’t tell. I did like the aliens being added and the upgrades to the screen area with the moving objects on them. It looked great!

After a long closure, it will be nice to have Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin back in action. For me, it was perfectly fine, kids will like it. Just keep in mind that it’s more difficult to rack up the points, younger riders may get a little bit frustrated. Even the Cast Member at the exit said that everyone has said they find the upgrades harder to get used to. I’d be curious as to what others think of the new and improved version of this family loved attraction. When you go, let me know! Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin opens to the public on April 8th!
