Mattel is one step closer to bringing its colorful world to Central Florida. New planning documents have been submitted for a proposed Mattel themed indoor water park in the Orlando area. This has created more hype for the long-rumored entertainment spot, Mattel Wonder!
The indoor attraction would be part of a larger entertainment resort inspired by Mattel’s iconic brands, creating an immersive experience designed for families. While official details remain limited, the filing suggests the project is actively moving through early development stages. Very exciting!
If approved, the Orlando location would mark one of the first large scale indoor water parks tied directly to Mattel’s toy properties, adding another major themed destination to this area’s growing lineup. New details have emerged to give us a better idea of what the plans are. The filing reveals the project would sit on an 11-acre parcel along State Road 535, just minutes from the Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores, a location already buzzing with tourist traffic.
According to the submitted documents, the site is slated to become a full “tourist commercial resort.” That includes a mix of indoor and outdoor water park attractions, a large outdoor gathering space, retail shopping, and a family entertainment center designed to round out the experience.
The concept plan included with the application gives a clearer look at the scale. It outlines a massive 90,000 square foot indoor water park, paired with an 11,400 square foot retail store and a 42,000 square foot slide zone. Outside, guests would also find an additional 35,700 square feet dedicated to outdoor water features along with a spacious event lawn.
To handle the crowds, the proposal includes significant parking: a garage with 368 spaces plus a separate surface lot offering 384 more spots.
