Paddlefish at Disney Springs Robbed by Man in Scuba Gear

Paddlefish RobberPaddlefish at Disney Springs Robbed by Man in Scuba Gear! I just heard this story tonight and had to report on it… crazy stuff! Apparently, Paddlefish at Disney Springs was robbed by a man who swam up in scuba gear and a wetsuit and then swam away after he stole thousands of dollars. Sounds too odd to believe, but it’s true!

Paddlefish Robber

The robber hit the Paddlefish restaurant shortly after midnight on Monday, after it closed to guests, according to a report released by the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said the man found a place to store his wet suit and scuba gear before walking into the manager’s office, where cash from the night was being counted and deposited into a safe.

According to the sheriff’s report, the man made two employees stand in the corner and told them to close their eyes. While much of the report is blacked out, sources said he tied them up.

He then grabbed between $10,000 and $20,000 before taking off. The employees said he was gone in under two minutes, and after managing to free themselves, they called 911. Luckily, neither of them was hurt, and he never showed a weapon.

Investigators believe that after leaving the restaurant, the suspect put his scuba gear back on and slipped into the water.  A search right after the robbery came up empty.

The sheriff’s office later shared a photo showing the man spray painting a security camera. He was described as slim, about 5’10”, wearing tight clothes and a blue beanie.

Paddlefish’s owners directed all questions to the sheriff’s office, which confirmed the investigation is still active. Despite the incident, the restaurant opened at noon Monday as usual, and while no extra security was visible, Disney properties are typically under heavy—though mostly hidden—security from both staff and deputies.

What an absolutely horrible situation for the employees who were there! We are so glad that no one got hurts and that the suspect gets apprehended soon. Stay tuned for more updates as we see them.
