A new report released by the Themed Entertainment Association reveals Disney’s Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida ranks No. 1 for attendance worldwide.

The Theme Index Report, which comes annually, states over 17.1 million people visited Magic Kingdom in 2022, up 35% from 2021, when attendance sat around 12.7 million. However, it’s worth noting that Magic Kingdom has still not returned to its pre-pandemic attendance numbers, which were at 21 million in 2019.

According to the report, no theme park in the entire world has recovered its pre-pandemic attendance numbers.

Following Walt Disney World on the list came Disneyland in California at no. 2 with 16.8 million visitors. Universal Studios Japan and Tokyo Disneyland came in at both no. 3 and 4 on the list with only a small number between them.

This was followed by Universal’s Island’s of Adventure at Universal Orlando with 11 million visitors. Right behind IOA was Disney’s Hollywood Studios at 10.9 million, which was followed by Universal Studios Florida at 10.7 million.

Of all the theme parks on the list it seems the international parks of Disneyland Park at Disneyland Paris, Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris and Universal Studios Japan saw the greatest increase in visitation from 2021 to 2022.

Disneyland Park saw an increase of over 184% in the single year, rising from 3.5 million in 2021 to 9.9 million in 2022. Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris saw an increase of 183% in the same year, rising from 1.8 million in 2021 to 5.3 million in 2022. Universal Studios Japan increased 125% from 5.5 million in 2021 to 12.3 million in 2022.

Overall, Florida’s eight theme parks accounted for 77.3 million visitors to theme parks in 2022 and the sunshine state still holds the most number of theme parks with the highest numbers of visitation of any other state in the country.
