For the Love of Epcot…

October 19, 2022

Ok Main Streeters, I have a confession to make. When I was a kid and my family came to Walt Disney World from Minnesota, Epcot days weren’t my favorite.

Of course, I loved a ride or two on Spaceship Earth, Maelstrom, and the “Mexico ride”. I loved the chicken nuggets from The Electric Umbrella. I loved shopping in Mousegear for the perfect souvenir. However, I longed for the pirates, ghosts, and flying elephants of the “other” park that was open at the time.

Fast forward to adulthood and boy has my outlook changed! Now, Epcot is so magical for me!

I can’t get enough of it! I love spending more than one day there if I can and it is my favorite park to hop into by far. Spending an evening strolling around World Showcase then heading back to my resort under the beauty of Spaceship Earth is the best!

I have also learned to love the yearly festivals that Epcot offers. I have attended several Flower and Garden, Festival of the Holidays, and Food and Wine festivals over the years. I was finally able to attend my first Festival of the Arts last year and it was a blast! I was there on a solo trip and ended up going twice to try some of the food, buy some art, and experience all of the unique offerings. It was the perfect combination for this musician!

The moral of this story is to give everything at Walt Disney World a try. You never know what you might enjoy, and as you get older you will find the magic in places you never have before.

I have enjoyed watching the transformation of Epcot over its first 40 years, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next 40!
