Packing For A Trip To Walt Disney World-Sarah’s Tips And Tricks

The resort has been chosen, the tickets have been purchased, and dining has been carefully planned and reserved. You are going to Walt Disney World!

Now what? What do you need to pack?

Having been to Disney World many times, I have lots of experience with packing. What you bring and how you pack it will depend on whether you arrive in Orlando by driving or by flying. If you are flying, you will have to follow the rules of the airline. If you are driving, you can bring whatever your heart desires!

Here are my top 6 tips (In no particular order.) as you dust off your suitcase!

  1. Plan your park bag. (or bags.)

You are allowed to bring bags with essentials into the Disney parks. I personally like to use a backpack because it allows me to be hands free. Many people go for crossbodies for the same reason. Still others like fanny packs. Whichever you choose, know that it can and will go with you on rides.

  1. A device to log in to My Disney Experience.

You will need the My Disney Experience app throughout your whole Walt Disney World visit. From checking wait times to mobile ordering food, it is your gateway to the magic. Make sure you can access it and that your devices are charged up!

  1. Cute and comfy clothing.

Park days can be long, and for me, that means I like to dress for comfort! I also know that once I get on property, I get in the Disney spirit! That means themed outfits for all of the magical photos I will take.

I recommend Lost Princess Apparel for all of your magical clothing needs!

  1. Shoes Matter!

One thing about the Disney parks is you will be walking A LOT. Therefore, footwear is VERY important. I always bring several different types, from sandals to tennis shoes, to keep my feet happy for my whole trip.

Remember the park bag we talked about earlier? I always keep a pair of flip flops in mine in case my feet need a break or get wet.

  1. Plan for Florida weather.

The time of year of your visit makes a huge difference in the weather.

There have been times when I needed long pants and shirts and other times light dresses and shorts.

Florida is called the sunshine state for a reason. Sunglasses and sunscreen are a must!

Another thing to be certain of is rain. Florida is famous for short rainstorms and you want to be prepared with a poncho or umbrella.  I also toss a gallon Ziploc bag into my park bag to protect things that shouldn’t get wet.

  1. Magical Extras

These are the things you bring to make your Disney trip extra magical. Some examples are: Trading pins, Minnie ears or other headgear, Autograph books, Magicbands, you name it.

I hope these tips help you as you prepare for your next trip to Walt Disney World!
