Marvel fans–we know you’re still sobbing over the final and tragic events of “Avengers: Endgame.” But don’t put away your tissues just yet as we have one more tear-jerker coming your way: Robert Downey Jr. revealed in a recent podcast interview he’s officially done with Marvel films.
The news came from a recent interview with the “Iron Man” star on the SmartLess podcast hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett. During the interview, Downey Jr stated that when it comes to him and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “that’s all done.”

As hard as it is to swallow this sad news, this does not mean we’ve seen the last of Tony Stark. Some Marvel fans out there might already know in Marvel’s upcoming “Black Widow” film Tony Stark/Iron Man is said to have a cameo in the movie.
As exciting as it is that fans will get to see the billionaire genius one more time on the silver screen this news has also brought false hope to many due to rumors that sparked from the reveal of the cameo–which lead some to believe Iron Man might return for another film in what some thought could be an “Iron Man 4.” However, it’s now been confirmed by Downey Jr. himself that this is not the case.

In Downey Jr.’s defense, he has been a part of the multi-billion dollar blockbuster film franchise since 2008 when he first appeared as “Iron Man” (the first-ever film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.) This film was only the first of several movies in the beloved comic-book universe that Robert Downey Jr. was a part of–which in total, spanned over a decade of the actor’s life.
