It’s hard to believe, but one year ago today, my book Moving to Main Street USA was released. Wow, a year already, and what a year it’s been. When I was approached by a publishing company about writing my story, I was excited, but also scared. Self doubt reared it’s ugly head. Could I do this? Would people want to read about my crazy Disney life? How would the feedback be? You get the idea. Once again, I pushed fear to the side, and agreed to write my book. I had about a two month deadline, and I knew it had to be right. The night I finished the last page of the book, I had a good cry. Telling my entire story, the good and the bad, was like a soul cleansing for me, and it felt good to let it all out. People always tell me that they like my writing style because I talk to them like we’re friends sharing coffee at Starbucks, and that’s how I wanted the book to be. What you see is what you get with me, and I needed to keep true to myself and my readers. Scary, but it was done. The day the book came out, I was terrified at what the response would be. Well, of course I’m my own worst critic, and my fears were for nothing, as people were more than supportive. When people started reading Moving to Main Street USA, I started getting messages from everywhere. Not just people who followed TMSM, but people who found me on Amazon and wanted to tell me that they enjoyed the book. It was amazing. When I finally got my copy in the mail, I cried. It was very surreal, but a blessing for sure.

Over the past year, I have gotten so many messages from people who thanked me for sharing my story, who told me they could relate to the self doubt and fear. They also were inspired that I kept pushing forward, regardless of the obstacle. That’s truly the point of the book. To keep trying, believe in yourself even when others don’t, and never give up on a dream. Also this year, I was able to get out there and meet my readers, sign some books, and take photos with them. Talk about awesome! We did a convention in Alabama and had a book signing party at Disney Springs. To say I was humbled and honored is an understatement. It’s still hard to believe.

So, it’s been a year. Now what? Well, we have plans to get out there and meet even more of our readers, at MegaCon in Orlando in May, and Magic City Con in Alabama in June. Also, our TMSM meet up weekend is December 7th and 8th. It’s so important to me to make myself available and take time to spend with the people who have supported not only this book, but who have supported TMSM for the past 8 years. This road has NOT been easy, quite the contrary. However, I’m so thankful I’ve had people behind me who encourage me to not give up and keep striving for more. People have asked me to do a part two to Moving to Main Street USA. I’m hoping that will be coming in the future, with other projects as well. But for now, I’m still enjoying the success of the first book, and can’t wait to share more of this adventure with you. On that note, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for the love and support, it means more than I could ever tell you! Now go… live your dream! xo ~M
