News for Disney Cruise goers!

New details have emerged for the Beauty and the Beast show on the Disney Dream. The new stage show, which is set to launch this fall, is going to be told from a unique perspective: as if the scenes were part of a music box created and told by Belle’s father, Maurice, who is an artist and music box maker.

As Maurice is telling the story of Belle and Beast, it will come to life. According to show write Sara Wordsworth, “he opens this music box and the entire show plays out. You start to see spinning doorways, characters that move in circles, things that remind you of winding up a music box.”

Disney will once again rely on projection technology, similar to the new fireworks show at Magic Kingdom, to enhance the set design. This will include LED walls in what production designer Aaron Rhyne calls a “giant leap forward with video technology.”

The new show will have songs from the new life-action film as well as those from the classic movie. Puppetry will be used for characters like Mrs. Potts, Cogsworth, and Lumiere. The show will be held in the Walt Disney Theater on the Disney Dream.

Are you looking forward to the new stage show?
