1997 was the first year for Star Wars Weekends at Hollywood Studios, and also the same year that the first “Special Editions” of the original Star Wars trilogy were released. Star Wars Weekends was held again in 2000, 2001 and then was an annual event from 2003 until 2015. It was announced in 2015 that Star Wars Weekends would no longer be held due to the impending construction at Hollywood Studios of the upcoming Toy Story and Star Wars inspired lands.
