ABQ : Archives is Andrew Berg (Saxophone). Catherine Traceski (Vocals), Stephen Dizon (Drums), Danny Anaya (Guitar) and Michael Selfridge (Bass). ABQ met at the California State University, Fullerton where they are all students. With the exception of Catherine and Andrew, all of the members of the group are music majors. Catherine is a Theater major and Andrew is an Engineering major. Prior to forming ABQ, everyone but Catherine already played together in the “Big Band” on campus. Andrew met Catherine at work at Disney, but she also attends CSU. Their co-workers have embraced their music and one friend will even play it in the store at night during closing. Andrew feels that he and Catherine’s feel Cast Members have received their music very well as shown by the large number of cast members that have followed ABQ on social networking and as well as shared their music.
ABQ’s goal is to arrange and perform songs people have heard a million times, but in a way they have never heard them before. Usually that means taking a modern song and changing it to jazz and because jazz isn’t as popular now people consider it to be an “older” music form. When ABQ: : Archives recreates a song in a jazz style it’s like they are pulling them out of the “archives.”
ABQ’s version of “Part of Your World” is on their is on their album “A Close Goodbye” and can be see on their YouTube Channel. We hope you keep an eye out on their YouTube channel for additional videos! We want to thank Andrew for taking the time to answer our questions and for letting us share ABQ:Archives amazing music with you! We can’t wait to see what this amazing group comes out with next!
