Happy New Year Main Streeters! I hope you all had a safe and fun Holiday Season! We sure did, and I’m counting my blessings for that! We had a much needed break back home in Michigan, and now we’re back to Florida living! Let’s catch up, shall we?
Once school was out, we headed North to spend the holidays with family and friends. As much as I love being here in Florida, I was really needing to get away and be around the people who mean most to me, my family! December was a rough month for me, and going back home was just what I needed. We had such a nice visit! I got to have dinner and drinks with my friends, spent lots of quality time with my parents, grandma and other family members, and got to eat a lot of my favorite foods from home. We rang in the New Year with all these wonderful people too, so it was all good. I looked so forward to going back home, but before I knew it, it was time to leave and head back to Florida. The day before we left, I was already dreading saying goodbye to my parents. My parents are the best, and it’s always hard to leave them. However, they are also VERY supportive of our efforts and TMSM, they believe in what we do down here in Florida, and I appreciate that so much. We all hugged, cried, and my family and I headed out. The drive back was rough. Less than an hour into the drive south, we blew a tire and needed to find a new one, which wasn’t easy. Ten hours later and 2 new tires in, we finally got out of Ohio. Yes, it took much longer to get back to Florida than we anticipated, but we all made it back safe and sound!
Once we got back to Florida, we finally were able to have our own Christmas celebration, just a bit late. The next morning the kids had presents under the tree, and we had a Christmas dinner that night. They were excited. What they weren’t excited about, was going back to school after having two weeks off. But then again, what kids DO want to go back to school after a long break? Not many. We’re getting back into the swing of things though. Yesterday, while the kids were in school, we headed out to Hollywood Studios to get some final pictures of the iconic Sorcerer’s Hat. We hadn’t been to any parks in weeks, so it was nice to be out and about. I don’t like change a whole lot, so going to see the Hat for the last time was a must. There was a lot of chatter among people walking by, lots of picture taking of the Hat, etc. I know that there are mixed reviews about the hat being taken down. Some will miss it, some won’t. I think I will. I’m glad I got to be there to see it a final time though. You can bet your Mickey Ears that we’ll be watching and waiting to see what comes next over there at the Studios. Hopefully something good, because that park really needs a boost!
So, that’s really it for this week’s Florida living blog. We are back and ready to have a rocking 2015 here at TMSM. We have a lot of amazing and exciting things for our Main Streeters to look forward to this year, and can’t wait to share it all with you.
