The Ghost of Christmas Past – Disney Style

November 4, 2013

Well now that Halloween is over, we can set our focus on Christmas.  I know Thanskgiving is coming, but that is just the appetizer to Christmas dinner.  As reported here yesterday, the first “Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party” is this Friday November 8th.  This is also the same day the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights begins at Hollywood Studios.

I wanted to share some photos from the 1976 Christmas Parade at the Magic Kingdom.  Herbie the Love Bug was one of the stars of this parade.  I wonder how many kids now a days even know who Herbie is?  What Disney parade would not be complete if it didn’t include Mickey and Minnie, they were on a moving gazebo float.  Donald is seen walking next to the Mickey Drum.  Another favorite was  Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.  The big guest of honor was of course the big guy in the red suit.  Santa was in attendance with a team of marching and musical elves.

  1. Sorry you took it that way, it was a joke. Its a running joke we have had for some time as you go to stores and such, even Disney, Thanksgivings gets very little attention and skipped over easily. It wasn’t meant to offend anyone and I apologize if it did.

  2. I beg to differ with your definition of Thanksgiving. It is definitely more than just an appetizer for Christmas dinner. It is a very important holiday for families and friends to recap all the things for which they have to be thankful that happened throughout the year. And believe me, we ALL have a lot for which we need to be thankful. So sorry that you feel the way you do; this is one family that will not miss THANKSGIVING!
