Yesterday we talked about the 1930’s style Mickey Mouse shorts that are coming out, and now we have a bit more nostalgia to share with you.  Pictures of Walt Disney that previously had not been released,  taken from his personal camera,  are now available on the website of D23, the official Disney fan club.

The images, found in the D’scovered section of the site, are part of the promotion for the new Free D23 Membership offer.  Two of the pictures show Disney enjoying a day at his home and on a 1951 family vacation to Denmark.  As most of you know, there is a “free” option to join D23 now, but you don’t receive the actual publications.

Other accessible elements on the site include interviews with television stars, Walt Disney publishers,  facts about the company’s history (including one called “Weird Disney”), an encyclopedia of Disney people, places and things, plus behind-the-scenes looks at theme-park attractions and other forms of entertainment.  It’s a great place to brush up on your knowledge of all things Disney.

To join D23 at the free level, go to DisneyStore.com/D23.   You will receive an email confirmation in a day or two, then you can take that info and go to D23.com and log in for the members-only features.

The silver and gold levels of membership are of course still available . A gold membership, including a subscription to “Disney twenty-three” magazine, costs $74.99. Silver membership is $34.99. Paid members get other benefits, including an annual gift and invitations to members-only events.

So, if you haven’t signed up for your free D23 Membership as of yet, get on over there and do so!  You’ll like what you find there!
