Dust off those Mary Janes and break out the bright red lipstick or suspenders; Dapper Day is coming up! What’s Dapper Day? Until early 2016 I didn’t know either, but now it is something I look forward every year!

One of best aspects of a Disney park is the immersiveness you feel upon entering. You leave the crazy and chaotic world behind when you enter the gate. You are no longer in 2017 Orlando, you’re on a turn of the century main street or in the heart of the jungle or are a space ranger! Dapper Day is another fun way to transport yourself to a different time!

Dapper Day is put on by a third party (Dapper Day, creatively enough). It is a weekend, normally one in the spring and one in the fall, where you go to a scheduled Disney Park for the day dressed vintage and dapper. It is to celebrate when people used to dress up to go out, not just wear tank tops and leggings when on an outing (which I am guilty of doing).

Simply show up to the park in your best 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, or 60’s gear and have fun! Ride Dumbo looking like you walked out of a picture from opening day at Disneyland. Walk down Mainstreet like you belong in that time period. Twirl, take pictures and have fun. That’s pretty much it. But it is such a magical time!!

Although not an official Disney event, Disney certainly encourages Dapper Day. Cast members wave and wish you a Happy Dapper Day and pass out buttons. I even had one take a picture of me on her personal phone when I was Disneybouding as Peggy Carter. Shhhh, don’t tell anybody!

We are just about 100 days out from the fall 2017 Dapper Day weekend at Disney World. I will be writing articles every few weeks giving you tips on anything from finding the perfect outfit, to doing your hair and makeup (ladies, I am no expert, but I have learned a lot from personal experience), to the best picture spots and more!

Join me and thousands of other dapper people November 18 at the Magic Kingdom and November 19 at Epcot. Or if you’re on the West Coast, November 5 at Disneyland. I can’t wait!
