Five Easter Eggs in the Live Action Beauty and the Beast You Might Have Missed! 1

With Disney’s live action version of the animated classic Beauty and the Beast now available to own, I wanted to share some fun Easter Eggs with you to look for the next time you’re watching this new classic!

  1. The book Belle is returning in the opening number is “Romeo and Juliet”. This is the same book she reads Beast in the deleted musical sequence “Human Again”, which was added back to the animated film for the 10th anniversary DVD release. Later, Belle finds Beast reading about Arthur and the Knights of the round table, a nod to the book Belle reads Beast during the “Human Again” sequence in the Broadway version.
  2. When Belle is first led into her room at Beast’s castle, an instrumental version of “Home”, which Belle sings upon being shown her room in the Broadway show, can be heard.
  3. The new end lyrics to “Gaston” (where Le Fou tries and fails to spell Gaston’s name) are an outtake from the animated film. These lyrics only previously have been heard on the original audio cassette soundtrack from the animated film. Many of the other changed lyrics in the film are “outtake” lyrics written by the films original lyricist, the late Howard Ashman.

  4. Mrs Potts line “Winter turns to spring, famine turns to feast, nature points the way, nothing left to say. Beauty and the Beast” during the Reprise of “Beauty and the Beast” at the end of the film are also outtake lyrics from the title song written by Howard Ashman.
  5. Belle’s final line asking the Beast to grow a beard is an outtake from the original film as well. The original voice actress of Belle, Paige O’Hara ad-libbed the line in the recording booth, but it did not make the final cut of the film.
