Kona Menu Changes ~ TMSMunchies

May 12, 2017 , ,

One thing is certain about Disney – change is inevitable, and we know all too well that our favorites are not guaranteed to stick around forever. That is holding true with the menu at Kona Café, located at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. A recent change removed fan favorites from the menu and while most the replacements are somewhat comparable to their predecessors, gone are the days of the French toast, pancake, eggs, potatoes, and meat that was the Big Kahuna. Gone is the smoked pulled pork hash known as The Samoan. Gone is the deliciousness of the blueberry pancakes.

Now, before we start crying over spilled milk, let’s look at the bright side. There are a few new items on the menu to get excited about. The Kona Eggs Benedict, which looks to have replaced The Samoan, consists of poached eggs with citrus-chili hollandaise sauce and Char Siu pork belly on toasted Hawaiian bread. Who doesn’t love a good pork belly? My mouth is watering just thinking about it. But I digress.

Perhaps the most exciting new menu offering is the addition of mimosas and Bloody Mary’s! Yes, they added alcohol to the breakfast menu! And it’s not your typical mimosa or bloody offerings. Oh no, they have quite the twist. The mimosa is champagne mixed with Liliko’i juice. Never heard of it? It’s a blend of orange, passion fruit, and guava juices, and it’s absolutely delicious. The Bloody Mary includes wasabi, which I’m sure will add a little kick to your morning!

Can you handle more excitement? Get this! Not only are they offering mimosas and bloodys, they are offering them in flights! WHAT?!?! That’s right, you can get a mimosa flight or a Bloody Mary flight. With the mimosa flight, you get to select 3 juices from the list, which includes orange, pineapple, cranberry, pink grapefruit, or Liliko’i juices. For the Bloody Mary, you get a drink with each of the following; vodka, bourbon, and tequila. Does it get any better than that?

Are you upset or excited about the changes? As for me, I can’t wait for my next trip to try the new offerings. Have you tried any yet? If so, let us know in the comments below! Until next time, I bid you good eating!
