Four Simple Walt Disney World Pleasures For Kids by Guest Blogger Erika Tedesco

“I paid all this money to come to Disney World and you want to do what??” If you are a parent… you may have uttered that phrase during a trip to Disney World. We adults tend to focus on our investment and squeaking every opportunity for fun out of our experience. Kids, on the other hand, just want to be kids. Yes, they will enjoy the rides and even the amazing Broadway-style shows, but they also enjoy the simpler opportunities for fun that Disney brings. Below are my top four simple enjoyments (in no particular order) for small children.

Epcot: Coloring the Duffy or Perry on a stick. Seriously kids, we need to stop for a 15-minute coloring break?! In their opinion, we do. My children don’t even care about collecting the stamps around the world, they just want to sit and color for a while.

kidsMagic Kingdom: Dumbo the Flying Elephant. My children’s number one favorite thing to do in all of WDW: wait in “line” for Dumbo. Tip: even when the ride is closed due to rain, etc. ask the cast member at the entrance if you can go in and play. We did this several times and it was a great way to dry off.

Hollywood Studios: Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground. As a parent, this place gives me nightmares. It’s a maze of tunnels, slides and ropes and I always manage to lose my children as they both run in opposite directions. They LOVE it though, so I just try to park myself in a neutral position and keep my eyes and ears open.

kids2Animal Kingdom: The Boneyard. Another nightmare spot for me, but my children love the opportunity for free play. Runner up: Affection Section. It’s a long train ride, but an unexpected opportunity to get hands on with the animals at this lovely petting zoo.

Erika lives in Louisville, KY with her family- husband, Chris, and sons Jackson and Parker.
