Everyone is talking about Guardians of the Galaxy and how it’s blowing fans away.  I’ve heard so many people say it’s by far their favorite Marvel movie to date.  I remember when I first heard the movie was going to be made, I was so excited but also wondered how Marvel/Disney was going to get the right actor’s to bring these characters to life?

As casting started and finding out who would play who, I was most excited when I heard Dave Bautista was going to play Drax.  Knowing Bautista from his WWE career as a wrestler, I remember he was an animal.  I mean his muscle’s have muscles.  He is strong as an ox and fit what I pictured Drax being in real life.  However, I didn’t know how he would be as an actor.  Yes he has to speak in the wrestling business, but not like someone in a major movie.  We have all heard of other wrestlers who crossed over into movie making, Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper, and Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock to name a few .  Some did great, while others well not so great.

Marvel recently sat down with Dave to discuss his role and find out why he was willing to hang up his wrestling trunks to play Drax in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

In case you haven’t seen the film yet or are not familiar with Drax the Destroyer, he’s a maniac seeking revenge who has no grasp of metaphors. For Bautista, with this being his first major acting role, it was a risky decision for him to take a break from his successful wrestling career, but a risk that paid off! Watch this interview to learn more about how he got hooked on acting, what he learned from other actors, and if Drax could beat his wrestling persona “Batista” in the ring!
