The Norse God of Thunder, the Legendary warrior, the Son of Asgard, the Mighty Thor will be back on the big screen November 8, 2013. We haven’t seen him or his hammer since he was battling his step brother Loki in The Avengers film in 2012. This is also the follow up to the 2011 Thor movie. In that movie the arrogant Thor was cast to Earth by his father Odin and stripped of all his powers. He learns some very valuable lessons about life, falls in love and eventually granted back his powers and his Hammer. The woman he fell in love with in the film, Jane Foster wasn’t in The Avengers, but there was a mention of her and that S.H.I.E.L.D. had her in protective custody hiding her from Loki.
In the new film, Thor will battle a threat like never before, the deadly Malekith. Thor will return to Earth and be reunited with Jane as he works to battle this enemy. Malekith is not a new enemy at all, and has been around longer than the universe itself. He is ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim and with them he will attempt to put the entire universe into darkness. Even the mighty Odin cannot withstand the power of Malekith. Thor will have his hands full for sure protecting the Earth and all Nine Realms from this enemy and he will sacrifice everything.
Thanks to Marvel we have some still images from the film and get our first look of the new villain. Also we get to see a shot of the Dark Elf army and some other behind the scene shots.
